Ionospheric Scintillations Arctic Campaign Coordinated Observations (ISACCO) The aim of ISACCO is to perform a scintillation measurements campaign by a GNSS Ionospheric Scintillation and TEC Monito) at Ny-Ålesund and Longyearbyen (Svalbard, Norway). The System consists of dual-frequency receiver with special firmware specifically configured to measure amplitude and phase scintillation. Starting from the end of 2015 a Septentrio PolaRxS_PRO receiver has been installed in one of the two observation sites in Svalbard, NyÅlesund, for the observation of all the available satellite constellations GALILEO, GPS, GLONASS at the Svalbard longitude.

Measurements are obtained using a Pyrgeometer Kipp&Zonen, model CGR4, installed at Thule Air Base (220 m a.s.l.) in May 2013. The instrument sensitivity was determined during factory calibration for temperatures down to -40 °C, thus specifically suited for the polar environment. Data are acquired by a datalogger at 30 s time intervals and then transferred to a PC. The CGR4 and its dedicated PC are maintained by Daniela Meloni at ENEA.

Arctic Present Climate Change and Past Extreme Events (ARCA) CD4 core was micromilled at 200 μm increments using a micro-milling method (Drysdale et al., 2012). The stable isotope composition of the powders was measured on CO2 gas released by reaction with 105% H3PO4 at 70°C, which was measured using a mass spectrometer. Isotopic results are reported using the conventional δ-notation in per mille (‰), with reference to the Vienna Pee Dee Belemnite (V -PDB) standard. Instrument : MC-ICPMS, Nu-Instruments Plasma, Finnigan GasBench Parameter : Th**230/U**238 and U**234/U**238 activity ratios, (δ**13)C and (δ**18)O

Arctic Present Climate Change and Past Extreme Events (ARCA) Tephra are volcanic particles that can be used as chrono-stratigraphic tool for correlating sedimentary archives once they have been identified. Marine sediments have been analyzed from the GS191-01 PC core recovered during the PREPARED CRUISE 2014 in the Arctic Sea (western of Svalbard Islands). Some of these samples resulted positive and geochemical analyses will be perfomed to determine the volcanic source and establish possible correlations with known eruptions.

The column water vapor or Precipitable Water Vapor (PWV) is measured at Thule Air Base (76.5°N, 68.8°W), Greenland, by means of a ground-based millimeter-wave spectrometer (GBMS) installed at 220 m a.s.l. The GBMS observes rotational lines of atmospheric molecules emitting between 230 and 280 GHz, with a spectral pass band of 600 MHz. The PWV is calculated from direct measurements of atmospheric opacity (tau) at the indicated frequencies by using the linear relation PWV = a+tau*b, where a and b depend only on frequency. Measurements have a temporal resolution of 15 minutes and are carried out continuously when the GBMS is operated.

Arctic Present Climate Change and Past Extreme Events (ARCA) The data refer to rock magnetic and paleomagnetic measurements taken at a 1-cm spacing on u-channel samples collected from piston cores from the continental platform and slope of the NW Barents Sea. Measurements were carried out in the paleomagnetic laboratory of INGV in Rome, using a superconducting rock magnetometer installed in a magnetically shielded room.
